Rio de Janeiro. In Brazil, one of the world's leading producers and exporters of soybeans, harvesting of the new crop of this important oilseed has begun, and initial data indicate an increase in yield.
Based on this, RaboResearch, an analytical firm, has estimated that total soybean production in the Latin American country will increase by 2 percent compared to 2024-25, reaching an all-time high of 177 million tons in the current 2025-26 season, significantly higher than production in the United States and Argentina.
The RaboResearch report states that soybean planting and development in Brazil during the 2025-26 season have been better than the five-year average, and therefore a significant increase in production is expected.
The soybean area has increased by 2 percent, and the crop condition is reported to be very good in all major producing states – Mato Grosso, Paraná, and Rio Grande do Sul, among others.
Due to the potentially record-breaking production, soybean exports from Brazil are also projected to increase to a new high of 111 million tons this year, with China remaining the largest buyer.
Similarly, total soybean crushing in Brazil is expected to increase by 2 million tons to 60 million tons.
A rule mandating a 16 percent blend of soybean oil in biodiesel exports is likely to be implemented in Brazil. Despite increased exports and domestic use, a surplus stock of soybeans will remain in the country.
