Santiago. Global demand for walnuts from Chile, a country located in the South American continent, remains generally strong, but exports to India are showing signs of a slight decline. Shelled walnuts (in whole form) are trading well, and European Union countries are showing keen interest in purchasing them. October proved to be a significant month for walnut exports from Chile.
According to official data, shelled walnut exports from Chile increased by 35 percent to 9,123 tons in October 2025 compared to October 2024, and unshelled walnut shipments jumped 55 percent to 5,603 tons.
During the first eight months of the current marketing season, March-October 2025, shelled walnut exports registered a strong increase of 29 percent.
Although India is considered a leading buyer of Chilean walnuts, its exports there declined by 11 percent.
Generally, Chilean walnut exports to Asia and Oceania performed somewhat poorly, with shipments declining by approximately 10 percent in the current season.
Meanwhile, exports to Turkey increased by 63 percent during the same period, while exports to the United Arab Emirates increased more than tenfold.
In fact, Chilean walnut exports to the Middle East, Asia, and Africa increased by more than 100 percent in the current marketing season, reaching a peak of 32,785 tons.
Similarly, exports to Europe also increased by 33 percent, reaching 22,640 tons. Meanwhile, exports to India declined by 11.4 percent from 30,651 tons in 2024 to 27,155 tons in 2025. In the eight months from March to October 2025,
