With just two days remaining in the harvest price discovery for crop insurance, December corn has averaged a close of $4.21 during October, which is 5 cents higher than last year but 49 cents below the spring price.
According to this morning’s EIA data, ethanol production during the week of October 24 totaled 1.091 million barrels per day, down 21,000 bpd from the previous week. Ethanol stocks increased by 448,000 barrels to 22.37 million barrels. Refinery ethanol inputs were steady at 911,000 bpd, while exports rose by 45,000 bpd to 175,000 bpd.
The USDA remains closed due to the government shutdown, but traders are expecting corn export sales for the week ending October 23 to range between 1.1 and 2.1 million metric tons.
Rabobank estimates Brazil’s 2025/26 corn production at 137 million metric tons.
