Efforts continue to prevent possible rail strike in Canada

Vancouver. During the last week, the price of peas in the Canadian market was seen to be stable or slightly soft because the supply of its new crop increased rapidly.
Actually, the government is making necessary arrangements to prevent the rail strike there, but the producers and exporters do not trust the government measures.
Last week, the pace of harvesting and preparation of crops was fast in Canada and America. So far, 54 percent of the pea crop has been harvested in America and 22 percent in Canada.
Till August 13, 6.22 lakh tons of peas had reached the farmers' warehouses in Canada and 4.03 lakh tons in America.
The supply and availability of the new crop of peas is increasing at a time when a serious crisis of closure of rail transport network has arisen in Canada.
Canada's CP and CN railways have said that if the government does not accept their demands and fully implement the earlier agreement by August 22, then 9300 railway engineers, conductors and yard workers will go on strike.
It seems that the government is in no mood to accept these demands, so the exporters are trying to transport the pea stock from the producing areas to the ports or nearby areas by making full use of the railway service before August 22 so that its export shipment can continue for some time.
