Good Sowing Progress for Grains and Legumes in Ukraine: Ministry of Agrarian Policy
★ According to Ukraine’s Ministry of Agrarian Policy, as of May 8, 2025, a total of 4.233 million hectares — or 76% of the planned area — had been sown with spring crops across the country. This figure is nearly identical to the same period last year, when 4.32 million hectares (77.1% of the plan) had been sown.
★ Wheat has been sown on 213,000 hectares (93% of the target area), compared to 244,900 hectares last year.
★ Barley sowing covered 733,000 hectares (94%), down from 779,900 hectares last year.
★ Peas were sown on 209,000 hectares (96%), showing an increase from 161,600 hectares last year.
★ Corn sowing reached 2.913 million hectares (73% of the target), slightly up from 2.838 million hectares in 2024.
★ Among oilseeds, sunflower sowing reached 3.508 million hectares (69% of the target), a decline from 3.964 million hectares last year.
★ Soybean sowing stood at 1.347 million hectares (56%), compared to 1.201 million hectares last year.
★ For 2025, the total sowing target for all spring crops remains 5.7 million hectares — the same as in 2024.
