Indore. It has been decided to start the government purchase of soybean from farmers in Madhya Pradesh at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) from October 25, while the process of purchase will continue till the end of the current year i.e. 31 December 2024.

During this period, about 14 lakh tonnes of soybean will be purchased from the farmers. Farmers wishing to sell their produce at the minimum support price will be required to register.

The process of registration has started today i.e. 25 September. The market price of soybean in Madhya Pradesh has come down below the government support price, due to which the concern and trouble of the farmers has increased.

Madhya Pradesh is considered to be the leading producer of soybean in India, while Maharashtra is second and Rajasthan is third.

However, in the 2022-23 season, Maharashtra itself secured the first position in soybean production by pushing Madhya Pradesh to the second position, but in the 2023-24 season, Madhya Pradesh again got the status of number one producing state.

During the current Kharif season, the sowing area of soybean in Madhya Pradesh was about 52 lakh hectares while its production is estimated to be more than 50 lakh tons.

The minimum support price of soybean has been increased by Rs 292 or 6.3 percent from Rs 4600 per quintal to Rs 4892 per quintal as compared to last year.

The government aims to raise the market price of soybean by purchasing a good quantity from the farmers so that the farmers can get at least MSP.

The arrival of the new crop will gain momentum from next month but farmers will have to wait till October 25 to sell their produce at the support price.
