Severe wildfires currently raging in Canadian forests have blanketed the US sky in haze; this situation could potentially have a partial impact on the lentil crop.

While soil moisture levels are adequate, there remains a risk of pest and disease infestations, which could affect lentil yields and grain quality. Canada holds significant carryover stocks of lentils, and the new harvest is also imminent; however, buyers are showing no urgency to make purchases.

Producers and exporters are closely monitoring the sowing and progress of Kharif pulse crops in India, as future pulse imports will depend on these outcomes. A decline in Tur (pigeon pea) production could lead to increased imports of green lentils.
