Mumbai. The Maharashtra government has initiated the process for the procurement of Kharif pulses and oilseeds crops. According to information released by the Ministry of Cooperation and Marketing, the Maharashtra government has begun registration of farmers under the guidelines of the Central Government.
The Central Government has approved the procurement of 18,50,700 tons of soybean, 3,25,680 tons of black gram, and 33,000 tons of green gram from farmers in Maharashtra at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) during the current Kharif marketing season.
The Marketing Department has stated that registration of farmers for the procurement of pulses and oilseeds in the state began on October 30th and will continue until December 31, 2025. Similarly, the procurement process for these products will begin on November 15th, 2025, and will continue for the next 90 days (three months). Soybean, green gram, and black gram will be procured only from online registered farmers.
The soybean crop in Maharashtra has suffered some damage this year, but its wholesale market price remains well below the minimum support price.
Farmers are eagerly awaiting the start of government procurement. The prices of urad and mung beans are also below the support price. The start of farmer registration has alleviated some of their worries and concerns.
