New Delhi. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that a cold Western Disturbance, having traversed Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, has now entered India. On the previous day, it was present as a cyclonic circulation over parts of Kashmir adjacent to northern Pakistan.

Following this Western Disturbance, another disturbance is also becoming active; under its influence, rainfall is likely in the mountainous regions of Northwest India starting May 2nd. An antecedent upper-air trough passed through Amritsar, Mudki, and Bathinda on the previous day (April 30th); this disturbance has led to the formation of a cyclonic circulation over Punjab. A trough has moved southward and reached over southwestern Rajasthan, while an additional upper-air cyclonic circulation remains active over northeastern Rajasthan.

The activity of this cold Western Disturbance is expected to result in a drop in temperatures. Its impact is also likely to be felt in interior Maharashtra and Telangana.

A trough is passing through the northeastern part of Madhya Pradesh, which, in the form of a cyclonic circulation, may affect Bangladesh, Jharkhand, and the plains of West Bengal.

Another trough is moving through interior Karnataka towards the Gulf of Mannar, which could impact weather conditions in southern interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

As a result of these developments, there is a possibility of rainfall or thundershowers across various states of the country.

These include Himachal Pradesh, western Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, the hilly and plains regions of West Bengal, Sikkim, Jammu & Kashmir, eastern Uttar Pradesh, western Rajasthan, eastern and western Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and coastal Andhra Pradesh.
