Pulse Situation in Canada and the U.S.
Peas
★ With harvest progress picking up, international pea markets continue to show weakness as buyers in many countries remain cautious and delay purchases in anticipation of further price declines.
★ As of the start of the week, around 16% of Canada’s total field pea crop had been harvested, while over half of the U.S. crop was already complete.
★ Based on current production estimates, approximately 498,000 metric tons of new crop peas are available in Canada, while around 477,000 metric tons are ready in the United States.

Lentils – Quality Concerns
★ Despite unusually slow progress in lentil harvesting across North America, lentil markets are struggling to maintain price stability.
By the beginning of the week, only 12% of Saskatchewan’s lentil crop had been harvested, with 11% more ready for straight combining.
★ At the same time last year, about half of the lentil crop was already in the bin, compared to the five-year average of around 56%. This year’s pace of lentil harvesting is the slowest since 1992 and 1993.
