Pulses Market Update
Chickpeas:
★ Chickpea prices remained largely stagnant again this week, with no major upside or sharp downside moves. Old-crop No. 2 chickpeas are trading around $0.27/lb FOB farm, based on minimum 30% 9mm and maximum 20% 7mm sizing. Overall supply continues to be heavy, limiting the scope for any meaningful price appreciation in the near term. A few buyers are circulating feed-grade chickpea bids near $0.10/lb FOB farm, although most are asking for samples or photos before committing. New-crop indications remain soft at around $0.27/lb including an act of God, but these levels are attracting limited interest from both buyers and sellers.

Lentils:
★ Lentil markets are holding steady at last week’s levels. Large green lentils (No. 2) are trading near $0.26/lb FOB farm, with some buyers still open to nearby movement. Extra 3 large green lentils continue to trade around $0.22/lb FOB farm. Small green lentils (No. 1) are quoted near $0.20/lb FOB farm, though demand in this segment appears thinner than in large greens. No. 2 small green lentils are discounted by $0.03–$0.04/lb compared with No. 1 quality and are indicated around $0.16–$0.17/lb. French green lentils (No. 1) are seeing some buyer interest and are quoted around $0.21/lb FOB farm for February–March delivery. No. 2 red lentils are showing strength, with old-crop indications around $0.25/lb delivered, with FOB farm pickup options also available.
★ New-crop lentil pricing remains unchanged, with indicative levels at $0.24/lb FOB farm for No. 2 large greens, $0.20/lb FOB farm for No. 1 small greens, and $0.20/lb FOB farm for No. 2 red lentils. All new-crop prices include an act of God and contract price spreads.

Peas:
★ Following news of tariff relief from China a few weeks ago, pea prices saw a brief uptick but have since stabilized. Yellow peas are currently priced at $8.00–$8.30/bu delivered, while green peas are trading around $10.00–$10.50/bu picked up. Maple pea bids have softened slightly, now ranging between $11.00 and $13.00/bu depending on variety. While renewed Chinese demand will help absorb some supply, high ending stocks are expected to cap further price gains. New-crop values are still slow to develop, making firm offers the preferred strategy in the current market environment.
