Indore. Soybean Processors Association of India (SOPA), an important organization of indigenous edible oil-oilseed industry and trade sector, says that during the current year, soybean production area at national level may remain almost equal to last year.

During July 10 to 16, 2024, two teams of SOPA surveyed the sowing and status of the crop up to about 4500 km in the major soybean producing districts of the three top producing states - Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Rajasthan.

During this, the fact came to light that in some areas farmers gave priority to the cultivation of maize and pulses instead of soybean, while in some other areas, emphasis was laid on sowing soybean instead of other Kharif crops.

According to SOPA, this time there was a possibility of a huge decline in the sowing area of soyabean, but it has not been found to be true yet.

According to the data of SOPA, during the current Kharif season, the total production area of soyabean at the national level has reached 118.17 lakh hectares.

Under this, the sowing area was 51.29 lakh hectares in Madhya Pradesh, 47.61 lakh hectares in Maharashtra, 10.16 lakh hectares in Rajasthan, 1.40 lakh hectares in Telangana, 4.26 lakh hectares in Karnataka, 10.16 lakh hectares in Rajasthan, 1.40 lakh hectares in Telangana, 4.26 lakh hectares in Karnataka, 2.56 lakh hectares in Gujarat, 26 thousand hectares in Chhattisgarh and a little more than 63 thousand hectares in other states of the country.

Soybean sowing has reached its final stage. It is worth noting that the Union Agriculture Ministry has estimated the total soybean production area at the national level to reach 119.73 lakh hectares this year with 52.34 lakh hectares in Madhya Pradesh, 47.70 lakh hectares in Maharashtra,

10.58 lakh hectares in Rajasthan, 1.40 lakh hectares in Telangana, 4.26 lakh hectares in Karnataka, 2.56 lakh hectares in Gujarat, 26 thousand hectares in Chhattisgarh and 63 thousand hectares in other states.

There is a slight difference between the government and SOPA figures for the sowing area of Madhya Pradesh,

Maharashtra and Rajasthan. During the year 2023, the Ministry of Agriculture had given the figure of soybean cultivation in a total of 125.40 lakh hectares, while SOPA's sowing area figure was only 118.55 lakh hectares.
