Turkey Lentils and Kabuli Chickpeas: Stable Production, Prices Likely to Fall
Lentils
★ Red lentil production in Turkey is expected to remain steady at around 230,000–250,000 tonnes this year, with green lentils estimated at around 70,000 tonnes. The crop quality is fair, and the harvest is expected to be completed by July 15.
★ Due to increased production in countries like Russia and Kazakhstan, global lentil supply is likely to exceed demand, which may push prices down to around $500–550 per tonne.

Kabuli Chickpeas
★ If weather conditions remain favorable, Turkey’s Kabuli chickpea production could reach 370,000–400,000 tonnes, out of which about 200,000 tonnes may be available for export. The crop quality is good, though the grain size is slightly smaller.
★ Turkey’s lentil and chickpea production is stable, but global oversupply is expected to keep prices under pressure. This, in turn, may support increased demand.
