U.S. Sets Goal to Double Pulse Production in 5 Years: USA Pulses
★ U.S.-based pulse organization *USA Pulses* has announced a plan to double both the production and consumption of pulses by 2030.
★ The announcement was made during the annual conference held in Spokane, Washington, from July 7–10.
★ According to USDA data, in 2024 Pea production stood at 756,000 tonnes, Lentil production at 410,000 tonnes & Chickpea (Kabuli chana) production at 255,000 tonnes.
★ For 2025, the estimated seeded area is Lentils: 1.01 million acres (↑7.9% YoY), Peas: 1.07 million acres (↑9.6%), Chickpeas: 540,000 acres (↑7.6%)
★ USA Pulses emphasized that this strategic goal aims to strengthen food security, promote sustainability, and position pulses as key crops for the future.
