Despite heavy arrivals, peanut prices rise on strong demand
New Delhi. The supply of new Kharif peanuts is increasing in important markets of major producing states, and in Gujarat, heavy procurement is being done from farmers at the minimum support price (MSP) of Rs 7,263 per quintal. This is supporting market prices. As of November 19, the government had procured 1.62 lakh tonnes of peanuts in Gujarat.
Arrivals
During the week of November 15-21, the highest daily arrival of peanuts in Gondal and Rajkot reached 70,000 bags, while the price in Rajkot increased by Rs 500 to a high of Rs 7,500 per quintal due to strong demand from buyers.
Uttar Pradesh
Similarly, peanut prices rose by Rs 400 to Rs 5,600 per quintal in Bikaner and Rs 200 to Rs 7,000 per quintal in Solapur. Prices remained firm in the markets of Uttar Pradesh as well. Meanwhile, peanut prices rose by ₹400 to ₹5,000/₹6,000 per quintal in Jhansi, ₹300 to ₹5,200/₹5,800 per quintal in Mahoba, and ₹700 to ₹5,000/₹6,200 per quintal in Mauranipur. Heavy peanut arrivals have begun in Uttar Pradesh markets. Daily arrivals in Jhansi have exceeded 25,000 bags.
Peanut Seeds
Peeled peanut seeds also saw strong trading, with prices rising by ₹600-₹700 per quintal in Bikaner. Similarly, prices rose by ₹300-₹800 per quintal in Solapur and ₹400 per quintal in Nagpur. Crushers, processors, and exporters are showing strong interest in purchasing peanuts.
Peanut Oil
Due to the rise in peanut prices, the price of loose peanut oil also increased by Rs 50 to Rs 1500 per 10 kg in Rajkot, Gondal, Junagadh, and Jamnagar in Gujarat. Prices also improved by Rs 5-10 per 10 kg in Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bikaner, Newai/Tonk, and Chennai.
Branded Oil/DOC
However, the price of branded peanut oil remained stable at Rs 2350 per tin (15 kg) in Kota. Filtered oil witnessed some fluctuations. Peanut DOC prices increased by Rs 500 per ton in some places and decreased by the same amount in others.
