In CBT wheat futures and options, managed money increased their net short position by 3,451 contracts during the week ending April 21, bringing it to 10,717 contracts. In KC wheat, they added 11,085 contracts to their net long position, reaching 28,009 contracts.
Weekly Export Sales data showed total wheat export commitments at 24.67 MMT, which is 15% higher than last year. This is 101% of the USDA’s export projection and close to the 102% five-year average.
IKAR estimated the Russian wheat crop at 90 MMT, down by 1 MMT from its previous estimate. FranceAgriMer reported that 83% of the French soft wheat crop is rated good/excellent, down 1 percentage point from the prior week. Saudi Arabia has issued a tender to purchase 710,000 MT of wheat, with the deadline set for Friday.
