Lucknow. The 61st Annual General Meeting of Uttar Pradesh (UP) Roller Flour Millers Association was successfully organized at Hotel Taj in Lucknow. While addressing the meeting, the re-elected President of UP Roller Flour Millers Association Dharmendra Jain expressed his views on many important issues. Finance Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Principal Secretary, President of All India Roller Flour Millers Federation Navneet Chitlangia and all the senior officials of the association were present in this annual meeting. Dharmendra Jain praised the state government for allocating land for the establishment of International Milling School in Uttar Pradesh and said that this institute will become a "Centre of Excellence" and will prove to be a milestone in providing education and training to the millers. He also thanked the Chief Minister of UP for giving full cooperation and support to the milling sector.

Along with this, Navneet Chitlangia also drew the attention of the government on many important issues including clarity of GST on wheat bran, proposed amendment in Legal Metrology Act, reduction in GST on flour mill machinery, export permit for bran, clarity on Open Market Sales Scheme (OMSS) policy, inclusion of flour milling industry in PLI scheme and support for increasing storage capacity etc.

It is noteworthy that Dharmendra Jain, President of UP Roller Flour Millers Association, has recently been elected Senior Vice President of Roller Flour Millers Federation of India while Navneet Chitlangia has been elected as President.

Deepak Bajaj, Vice President of UP Roller Flour Millers Association said that most of the mills come under MSMe, the government will have to pay attention to MSMe. The rules for converting lease hold to free hold will have to be changed because these rules are very old. Under the Metrology Rules, it is not right to impose GST on packing of more than 25-30 kg. 18% GST is levied on milling machinery which will have to be reduced to 5%.

Principal Secretary, Manoj Singh said that Uttar Pradesh is the largest wheat producing state in the country but is at the sixth place in terms of processing. 86% of Uttar Pradesh's crop is grown through irrigation. Uttar Pradesh produces 100 lakh tons of wheat out of 380 lakh tons production in Kharif season. The entire state contributes 600 lakh tons in Rabi and Kharif seasons combined. A decline has been observed in government purchase of wheat for the last 3-4 months.

More than 300 industrialists associated with the wheat industry from Uttar Pradesh as well as various states participated in this event.
