Thiruvananthapuram. Due to the effect of a cyclonic circulation located over central Rajasthan, on 4th September, very heavy rains occurred in western Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh,
while due to dense cloud formation over the Bay of Bengal, heavy rains were recorded in many parts of Andhra Pradesh as well as Chhattisgarh.
According to the Meteorological Department, the low pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal may gradually turn into a depression.
This low pressure area is likely to persist for the next 2-3 days. A resistant wind is flowing from the northern part of Nellore in coastal Andhra Pradesh.
This cyclonic circulation is likely to come down to the lower level, due to which heavy rains with strong winds are expected in some areas.
The Meteorological Department has predicted extremely heavy rainfall in Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana and heavy rains in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bengal Hills, Sikkim, Bihar, Odisha and Northeast India.
Apart from this, rainfall is also predicted in Konkan, Goa, Gujarat and Karnataka. According to the Meteorological Department, there may be heavy rains in coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Yanam.
The rainy season has already begun in Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh province. Heavy rains are expected in various parts of Karnataka and Kerala in the next one or two days.
Similarly, heavy rains are expected in Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh and Saurashtra and Kutch and heavy rains in Central Maharashtra, North and South Gujarat and Gandhinagar region.
This may lead to floods and waterlogging in the fields, which may damage the Kharif crops.
