Las Vegas. The Corn Growers Association of Iowa, a leading state of corn and soybean in America, believes that there is a good possibility of increase in corn exports to India. It is noteworthy that recently the president of the association along with the governor and agriculture minister of Iowa visited India and explored the possibilities of short-term and long-term corn exports. The president of the association says that this mission (tour) was about creating a corn market for the future.
America is the largest producer and exporter of corn in the world. Preparations for harvesting the new crop have already begun there. Although there is a ban on the import of GM corn in India, whereas in America, mainly corn of this category is produced. In view of this, the possibility of importing corn from America is negligible, but if the Indian government gives special permission to import GM corn for use in ethanol production, then America can benefit greatly. As the situation is, America can face a tough challenge from Brazil and Argentina. According to the president of the association, trade relations between India and America are very strong, so the Indian government can change its policy. India is the third largest importer of American ethanol, but here ethanol is mainly used for industrial purposes. In the near future, it will be a good opportunity for India to import soybean and dried distillers grain from America, which can be used to make animal feed and poultry feed. However, at present the possibility of this is very low.
