This time a target of purchasing 6 lakh tonnes of paddy has been set in Jharkhand. It is worth mentioning that Telangana is a leading state contributing paddy-rice to the central pool.
Paddy is cultivated there in about 44 lakh acres and its average yield rate is around 20 quintals per acre. Here, due to less monsoon rainfall in Jharkhand, there has been some decline in the area of paddy this time. Due to this, production is likely to decrease.
