Claims of Stellar Performance in the Indian Agricultural Sector

New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Agriculture states that the third advance estimate for the production of various crops—released for the entire 2025-26 marketing season—provides a clear indication of the robust health of the Indian agricultural sector.
With the production of wheat, rice, and maize surging to reach new record levels, the total food grain production is also estimated to rise to a historic peak of 376.56 million tonnes.
The Union Agriculture Minister has congratulated Indian farmers for achieving this record-breaking food grain production. He asserts that the Central Government stands with farmers on every front and is taking every possible measure to ensure their welfare and prosperity.
According to the Agriculture Minister, it is not merely the production of rice, wheat, and maize that has reached new record levels; the production of several other crops has also been exceptional.
Although a decline is anticipated in the production of Tur (pigeon pea), soybean, cotton, and nutri-cereals, the aggregate production of pulses, oilseeds, and coarse cereals has nonetheless surpassed the levels achieved in the previous year.
