According to Tuesday morning’s Export Sales data, a total of 1.327 MMT of corn was sold in the week of 10/9, which was in the middle of the traders’ delayed estimates of 0.9–2.5 MMT. This was a four-week low and also below the same week last year. Data for the week of 10/16 will be released on Friday.
Delayed CFTC data for the week of October 14 showed managed money holding a net short position of 191,055 contracts in corn futures and options, an increase of 49,089 contracts for the week.
Several South Korean importers purchased at least 324,000 MT of corn through overnight tenders, with at least 68,000 MT expected to be sourced from the US. According to ANEC, Brazil’s November corn exports are estimated at 6.11 MMT, down 0.25 MMT from the previous week.
