For the week ending February 12, old crop corn export sales totaled 1.47 MMT. Although this was lower than the previous week, it was still 1.1% above the same week last year. New crop sales were reported at 65,700 MT. Japan was the largest buyer at 381,500 MT, followed by Mexico with 270,100 MT and Taiwan with 127,300 MT.
According to the February 17 Commitment of Traders (COT) report, speculative funds reduced 20,795 contracts, taking the net short position to 27,415 contracts.
A South Korean importer purchased 132,000 MT of corn through an overnight tender.
