On the Intercontinental Exchange, cotton futures posted gains of 26 to 38 points across most contracts on Thursday. Crude oil futures rose $1.24 per barrel to $66.43, while the U.S. Dollar Index increased by 0.139 to 97.760.
At the Ag Outlook Forum, the USDA Office of the Chief Economist projected cotton planted acreage at 9.4 million acres this spring, with production estimated at 13.65 million bales.
The Seam reported sales of 16,513 bales on February 18 at an average price of 58.85 cents per pound. The Cotlook A Index fell 30 points to 73.55 cents. ICE certified cotton stocks increased by 2,565 bales to 117,075 bales on February 18. The Adjusted World Price rose 66 points to 50.05 cents per pound.
