ICE cotton futures posted gains of 110 to 150 points across most contracts on Friday, with the March contract closing the week up 92 points. Crude oil futures fell 4 cents to $66.36 per barrel, while the US dollar index declined 0.170 to 97.685.
For the week ending February 12, cotton export sales totaled 466,253 RB, marking a marketing year high and the largest weekly sale since June 2023. Vietnam was the largest buyer at 144,800 RB, followed by Bangladesh with 126,400 RB and Pakistan with 50,000 RB. Shipments were reported at 172,615 RB, a five-week low.
CFTC data showed managed money adding 3,906 contracts to their net short position, bringing it to 79,508 contracts.
The Seam reported sales of 27,314 bales on February 19 at an average price of 59 cents per pound. The Cotlook A Index rose 15 points to 73.70 cents. ICE certified stocks increased by 2,382 bales on February 19 to 119,457 bales. The Adjusted World Price increased 66 points to 50.05 cents per pound.
