Gandhinagar. It has been decided to buy peanuts, soybean, urad and moong from farmers at minimum support price (MSP) in Gujarat, an important agricultural producing state located in the western part of the country.

The procurement process will start from November 11 and will continue for the next 90 days. The Agriculture Minister of Gujarat says that the objective of purchasing pulses and oilseeds crops at minimum support price is to support the farmers and ensure that they get a fair price for their products.

According to the Agriculture Minister, the purchase of these pulses and oilseeds will be started after "Laabh Pancham" at more than 160 procurement centers in the state.

Farmers wishing to sell their produce at the support price will be required to register themselves online on the e-Samriddhi portal through e-Gram centers between 3 to 31 October 2024.

It is noteworthy that the Central Government has fixed the minimum support price of groundnut at Rs 6783 per quintal, soybean at Rs 4892 per quintal, moong at Rs 8682 per quintal and urad at Rs 7400 per quintal for the marketing season 2024-25, which is 6.4 percent higher respectively as compared to the 2023-24 season.

Gujarat is considered to be the leading producer of groundnut in the country and this time there has been a good increase in its sowing area as compared to last year.

Although heavy rains and floods in Saurashtra division have caused some damage to Kharif pulses and oilseeds crops, but the market of the remaining crops is said to be quite good.

Moong, urad and soybean are also produced well in Gujarat. Monsoon has started departing from there.
