Decrease in Chickpea Exports from Australia to India
★ From October to March of the current season, Australia exported 1.935 million tonnes of chickpeas, out of which India’s share was slightly over 1.4 million tonnes.
★ Australia exported the following quantities of chickpeas to India:
 - October to December 2024: 934,000 tonnes
 - January 2025: 20,568 tonnes
 - February 2025: 22,923 tonnes
 - March 2025: 34,110 tonnes
★ Chickpea exports from Australia may decline during April, May, and June.
★ Chickpea sowing is expected to increase again this year in Australia.
★ At the same time, the domestic (Indian) crop is also good, with prices around or slightly below the MSP (Minimum Support Price).
★ Mills have purchased chickpeas in large quantities, so despite good production, prices have not fallen below MSP.
★ If imports decline further in the future, chickpea prices are expected to improve.
