Indore. Due to relatively high prices of processed pulses in the mills of Madhya Pradesh, its demand has weakened at the local level, due to which pulse mills are being forced to reduce the use of their production capacity.
The time has come for the tremendous demand of the festive season, but the millers are facing great difficulty in selling their product. Usually, the demand and consumption of pulses increases during the festive season and winter days.
According to the millers, the cost of pulses made from the processing of pulses at the local level is high and the market price also becomes high, due to which there is neither much demand for it within the state nor is there good demand for it outside the state.
According to the All India Dal Mill Association, states like Gujarat, Rajasthan and Maharashtra have captured a large part of the pulse market in Madhya Pradesh because the price of processed pulses remains relatively low there.
Actually, this difference in prices has arisen due to the Mandi fee imposed by the Madhya Pradesh government.
Due to high prices and increased cost, the demand for processed pulses by mills in Madhya Pradesh has fallen by 40 percent and this demand is being met by pulses imported from other states.
1.20 percent tax is imposed on whole pulses imported from other states for processing purposes in Madhya Pradesh,
while the association is constantly requesting the provincial government to reduce or remove this tax, but it is being ignored.
Millers expect that the demand will be good during the festive season and the pace of processing will be fast between December and March. At that time, there is a strong inflow of new stock of Tuvar.
