New Delhi. India exports a wide variety of food and agricultural products to various countries around the world, including Basmati rice, non-Basmati (common) rice, pulses, groundnuts, guar gum, cocoa products, processed cashews, other grains,
milled products, cashew shell liquid, and wheat. In addition, the country also exports a large quantity of whole spices and spice products, oil meals, sugar, and several other oilseeds.
According to official figures, during the first seven months of the current financial year, i.e., April-October 2025, India exported approximately 82.78 lakh tonnes of non-Basmati rice, 35.90 lakh tonnes of Basmati rice, 12,000 tonnes of wheat, and slightly more than 3.71 lakh tonnes of other grains.
Furthermore, during the period under review, the country exported approximately 5.00 lakh tonnes of pulses, 3.79 lakh tonnes of groundnuts, slightly more than 2.91 lakh tonnes of guar gum, and 1.64 lakh tonnes of milled products.
During the same period, India also exported more than 30,000 tonnes of cocoa products, over 61,000 tonnes of processed cashew kernels, and approximately 19,000 tonnes of cashew shell liquid.
India is the world's largest exporter of rice, contributing 40-42 percent to total global exports. While Basmati rice exports were satisfactory during the period under review, the shipment of common rice lagged somewhat.
Exports are expected to improve during the five months from November 2025 to March 2026, as the significant depreciation of the rupee has made the export offer price of Indian rice highly competitive compared to other supplier countries.
