Extensive preparations for the purchase of paddy in Uttar Pradesh

Kanpur. This time in Uttar Pradesh, it has been decided to do the government procurement of Kharif paddy from 1 October 2024 to 28 February 2025 and all the necessary preparations are also being made for this.

Farmers wishing to sell their paddy at government procurement centers will have to get their online registration done. Like last year, this time also priority will be given to the purchase of paddy from small farmers whose production will be less than 60 quintals.

This is so that such small farmers can be saved from being forced to sell paddy at throwaway prices. The government is also making arrangements to make immediate payment of the price of paddy purchased at the procurement centers so that the farming community can get convenience.

Last year, about 4000 procurement centers were set up for government procurement of paddy in Uttar Pradesh, out of which 200 centers were operated by the central agency - Food Corporation of India (FCI) itself.

By the way, most of the paddy was purchased by the provincial agencies. The procured paddy will be allotted to rice millers for custom milling who will supply custom milled rice (CMR) to the Food Corporation.

To maintain transparency, rice mills and Food Corporation warehouses/depots will be linked through Report Sensing Application Centre. Procurement of paddy will start first in western Uttar Pradesh as the crop starts arriving early and then its scope will be expanded to other parts.
