Government procurement of coarse grains starts in Uttar Pradesh after formal approval

Lucknow. The Uttar Pradesh government has given formal approval for the purchase of maize, sorghum and millet for the marketing season 2024-25 and after this the process of its purchase started there from October 1, which will continue till December 31, 2024.
It is noteworthy that the Central Government has fixed the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of maize at Rs 2225 per quintal, millet at Rs 2625 per quintal and jowar at Rs 3371 per quintal for the 2024-25 season.
Maize will be procured in 19 districts of Uttar Pradesh, which include Bulandshahr, Badaun, Hardoi, Unnao, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Aligarh, Etah, Kasganj, Kanpur, Kannauj,
Kanpur Dehat, Farrukhabad, Etawah, Bahraich, Ballia, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra and Lalitpur. Similarly, it has been decided to purchase markets in 32 districts and jowar in 11 districts.
60 government purchase centers have been established for maize, 70 for jowar and 275 for millet in the entire state.
The state government has set a target to purchase 15 thousand tons of maize, 20 thousand tons of jowar and 2.20 lakh tons of millet this year. It is worth mentioning that millet is produced on a large scale during the Kharif season in Uttar Pradesh.
Millet will be purchased in districts like Bulandshahr, Badaun, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Rampur, Sambhal, Amroha, Aligarh, Etah, Kasganj, Hathras, Agra, Mathura, Mainpuri, Firozabad, Hardoi,
Unnao, Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Etawah, Auraiya, Kannauj, Farrukhabad, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Ballia, Mirzapur, Jalaun, Chitrakoot, Prayagraj, Koshambi and Fatehpur.
