Gujarat decides to procure gram and mustard at MSP

Ahmedabad. The Gujarat government has decided to procure gram and mustard from farmers in the state during the 2026 Rabi marketing season at the minimum support price (MSP) announced by the central government, providing relief to producers.

The procurement of these important pulses and oilseeds will be done under the Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan (PM-AASHA) scheme and the Price Support Scheme (PSS). Farmers wishing to sell their produce to the government agency at the minimum support price can register by March 5.

It is noteworthy that for the 2025-26 Rabi season, the central government has increased the minimum support price for gram to ₹5,875 per quintal and the MSP for mustard to ₹6,200 per quintal.

Data from the state agriculture department shows that the gram sowing area in Gujarat increased from 8.50 lakh hectares to 9.20 lakh hectares during the 2025-26 Rabi season compared to 2024-25. The area under mustard also increased to 2.84 lakh hectares.
