New Delhi. As per the revised date, the southwest monsoon should have started its farewell journey from India from yesterday i.e. 17 September, but this did not happen and there is very little possibility of its departure in the near future.
On the contrary, heavy rains are occurring in many states of the country due to the continued activity of monsoon, due to which the possibility of damage to Kharif crops is increasing.
The Meteorological Department has predicted 9 percent more rainfall than the normal average at the national level in September, which may prove to be true because 16 percent surplus rainfall was recorded in the first fortnight.
Rain continues in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Himachal Pradesh, while there is a possibility of torrential rain in states like Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka and Kerala.
This will increase the crisis of water logging especially in low-lying areas. In areas where water is already filled, serious trouble may arise for the crops.
In many areas, Kharif crops sown early have started ripening or grains have started appearing in them.
There is a possibility of damage to it due to this monsoon rain or grains have started appearing in it. There is a possibility of damage to it due to this monsoon rain.
The yield rate as well as the quality of pulses and oilseeds crops can be affected. Similarly, cotton crop will be affected. Moong and cotton can be damaged more due to rain in Rajasthan.
There is a threat to the urad crop in Madhya Pradesh while soybean crop is also likely to be affected. In western Uttar Pradesh, grains have appeared in the paddy plants and harvesting and preparation of the crop is going to start from next month.
The same situation is in Punjab and Haryana. Surplus monsoon rain was not considered very dangerous for Kharif crops in July-August because at that time the crop was in the progress stage. Where there was an outbreak of heavy rain, flood and water logging,
there was some damage to the crops while the situation remained better in the remaining areas but heavy rain in the second half of September can prove to be harmful.
