Important issues discussed in ISMA conference

New Delhi. Top number of private sugar mills - Indian Sugar and Bio Energy Manufacturers Association (ISMA) in association with Government of India and International Sugar Organization organized a two day 'India Sugar and Bio Energy Conference' on 26-27 September at Joe W Marriott in Aerocity, New Delhi. It was inaugurated by the Union Food Minister. The main theme of this conference was - "Harmonizing Sweet Sustainability: Navigating India's Path to a Green Economy". In his inaugural address, the Union Food Minister emphasized the need for government cooperation and support for innovation in these industries. The President of ISMA warmly welcomed all the visiting guests in his opening address. Union Food Secretary and Ambassador of Brazil to India also expressed their views in this conference. The Ambassador underlined the need for international cooperation for future development. On this occasion, "ISMA Times" was launched, which aims to reach out to people by publishing all the information and latest information related to sugar and bio-energy sector.
In his welcome address, the President of ISMA said that despite all the challenges and obstacles, the Indian sugar industry is moving ahead regularly and adopting new methods. During the last few decades, not only has there been a huge increase in the domestic production of sugar, but a lot of success has also been achieved in the field of bio-energy. This industry is ensuring the livelihood of about 250 lakh people of the country and about 60 lakh people are directly employed in this industry. Sugarcane producers get a lot of relief and income from the sugar industry.
The more the sugar industry develops and expands, the more employment opportunities will increase and the country will benefit from it. The government is now emphasizing on increasing the production of ethanol from sugarcane along with sugar, which is also an important source of green energy.
