International Corn Market
According to weekly export inspection data, corn shipments for the week ending May 15 totaled 1.719 million metric tons (67.68 million bushels). This is a 32.22% increase from the previous week and 39.06% higher than the same week last year. Mexico was the top destination, receiving 566,535 metric tons, followed by Japan with 269,983 metric tons. Other key destinations included Taiwan (144,804 MT), Colombia (144,800 MT), and South Korea (140,142 MT). Total marketing year shipments have reached 45.543 million metric tons (1.793 billion bushels), which is 29.21% higher than the same week last year.
Crop progress data shows the U.S. corn crop is 78% planted, in line with trade expectations. This is ahead of the 5-year average of 73% and last year's 67%. Emergence is at 50%, compared to the normal pace of 40%.
