USDA reported several private export sales of 500,302 metric tons of corn during the reporting period to unknown destinations, while 260,000 metric tons were sold to Japan during the same period.
According to USDA Export Sales data, a total of 1.14 million metric tons of corn were sold for the 2025/26 season in the week ending January 8. This was more than triple the previous week’s sales, the highest in the past three weeks, and 11.3 percent higher than the same week last year. Mexico was the largest buyer with 265,800 metric tons, followed by Japan with 210,800 metric tons and Taiwan with 133,400 metric tons. In addition, 1,270 metric tons were sold for the 2026/27 season.
CONAB released its January report this morning, projecting Brazil’s 2025/26 corn production at 138.87 million metric tons, nearly unchanged from the December estimate of 138.88 million metric tons.
