ICE cotton futures ended Monday’s session with gains of 65 to 75 points. Crude oil prices rose by $0.21 per barrel, while the U.S. dollar index dropped by $0.726 to 100.220.
As of Sunday, NASS estimated 40% of the U.S. cotton crop had been planted, slightly behind the 5-year average of 43%.
According to The Seam, 707 bales were sold on May 16 at an average price of 56.15 cents. The Cotlook A Index remained unchanged on Friday at 77.25. ICE cotton stocks were steady at 34,153 bales as of May 16. USDA's Adjusted World Price (AWP) was reduced by 91 points on Thursday to 53.90 cents per pound.
