Peas – Firm Despite Trade Concerns
★ Despite worries over India’s weakening import demand and uncertainty about China’s buying trend, field pea markets ended last week on a firm note.
★ During the first nine months of the current calendar year, China’s imports rose sharply compared to last year, while India’s imports declined significantly.
★ China imported a total of 1.273 million metric tons (MMT) of peas during the period, up from 0.839 MMT last year.
★ Russia supplied 677,700 MT, compared to around 256,100 MT last year.
★ Imports from Canada reached 418,200 MT, higher than about 274,200 MT in 2024.

Lentils – Minor Price Movements
★ International lentil markets witnessed slight week-to-week price fluctuations, driven by short-term changes in farmer selling and demand from exporters and importers.
★ Markets were somewhat satisfied with India’s final production estimate for 2024-25.
★ India’s lentil production stood at 1.65 million MT, 8% lower than last year.
★ This estimate is above the five-year average of 1.44 million MT, but below the June forecast of 1.77 million MT.
