The NASS Crop Progress report released after Monday’s close showed that 73% of the U.S. winter wheat crop had been harvested by Sunday, 1 percentage point ahead of the average pace. Spring wheat development was slightly behind normal, with 87% of the crop headed.
Crop condition ratings for the northern regions declined by 2%, with 52% rated good/excellent. The Brugler500 index fell 7 points for the week to 338.
The Wheat Quality Council Tour began today and is expected to generate social media reports on spring wheat prospects.
Russia’s agriculture ministry estimates the country’s wheat crop at 88 to 90 million metric tons, which is still above some private and USDA estimates. According to Argus, France’s wheat crop is estimated at 33.4 million metric tons—nearly 30% higher than last year.
