According to USDA’s Quarterly Flour Milling report, 222.94 million bushels of wheat were milled for flour during the April–June quarter. This was 3.7 million bushels lower than the previous quarter and 3 million bushels below the same quarter last year. Commitment of Traders data showed that as of July 29, spec funds added 13,283 contracts to their net short position in CBT wheat, taking it to 65,324 contracts by Tuesday. In KC wheat, they added another 3,321 contracts, taking the net short to 47,280 contracts. Sovecon reduced its estimate for Russian wheat production from 83.6 million metric tons to 83.3 million metric tons. It also trimmed its Ukraine wheat estimate by 2.8 million metric tons to 19.8 million metric tons. According to FranceAgriMer, 89% of France’s soft wheat crop has been harvested.
