According to the weekly Commitment of Traders (CFTC) report, as of April 8, managed money traders reduced their net short position by 9,908 contracts, bringing it down to 102,132 contracts.
In Kansas City Wheat (KC Wheat), however, they added 4,159 contracts to their net short position, increasing the total to 49,834 contracts.
According to the USDA’s export sales report released on Thursday, total wheat export commitments stand at 21.55 million metric tons (MMT). This represents 96.55% of the USDA's revised export forecast, compared to a 5-year average pace of 102%.
Export shipments have reached 17.3 MMT, which is 77.5% of the USDA's new forecast. This is behind the 5-year average shipping pace of 83%.
As for France’s soft wheat crop, data from FranceAgriMer shows that 75% of the crop is rated in good to excellent condition — a 1% drop from the previous week.
