Regina. The price of Kabuli chana in the markets of western Canada has remained stable for the last few days. Somewhere it is being bought a little but generally the demand is not strong.
At present, its FOB form price is running between 38-40 cents per pound in which the size of the grain is playing an important role.
Buyers are trying to buy such Kabuli chana in which the share of 9 mm size grain is 25 percent or more but such information is being received from many parts that buyers are facing difficulty in finding better quality goods there during the current year.
The purchase and sale of small grain Kabuli chana is expected to continue in the future as well but it will be necessary to keep its price low.
According to trade analysts, until the picture of production in the global market and especially in Australia becomes clear, it is difficult for prices to fluctuate much.
It is worth noting that mainly Desi gram is produced in Australia and Kabuli gram is produced in Canada. In the areas of Canada where purchases are being made, the price of Kabuli gram has increased to 42-43 cents per pound but critics say that after the requirement of buyers is met, the price may again come down.
The season of sowing gram has started in India while in Australia the preparation for harvesting the crop is likely to gain momentum soon. There is news of damage to pulse crops due to adverse weather.
