Market fee rate fixed on purchase and sale of agricultural products in Maharashtra

Mumbai. The Maharashtra government's Cooperative, Marketing and Textiles Department has issued a notification and fixed the maximum and minimum rates of market fee to be charged on the purchase and sale of various agricultural products in mandis across the state.

The highest rate of market fee has been fixed at 50 paise per 100 rupees (0.5 percent) and the minimum rate at 25 paise per 100 rupees (0.25 percent).

The notification states that the market committee in the concerned wholesale market will collect this fee and this fee will be collected from the buyers of agricultural products traded in this market.

Assembly elections are going to be held soon in Maharashtra. Traders are expected to get some relief due to the fixation of fee between 0.25 to 0.50 percent on agricultural products.
