Winnipeg. The pea market in the North American continent is getting regular good support from buyers and producers are also showing great interest in selling their stock. The position of pea export shipment is seen to be strong. Available data shows that more than one-third of the total estimated production of peas in Canada has been sold by farmers so far and if this trend continues, then the situation of supply and availability of peas in the production centers there may become complicated by the end of November.
According to trade analysts, it seems that in view of the possibility of better production, producers are largely satisfied with the current price of peas and hence are not hesitant to sell their stock. Canada is facing a complex challenge from Russia in the global pea export market.
As far as lentils are concerned, its market also remains strong. A good increase is being seen in the prices of thick green lentils while the price of red lentils remains almost stable in a certain range. As a result, the price difference between green lentils and red lentils has increased significantly. The prices of both thick green lentils and small green lentils are increasing. Its export offer price has gone up significantly.
Last week, the global market for Kabuli gram witnessed some stability as its export demand remained weak. Desi gram stocks are limited and Kabuli gram is not trading vigorously. Necessary preparations for harvesting the new crop of gram have started in some parts of Australia, while the pace of harvesting is expected to pick up in the third-fourth week of October. Desi gram is mainly produced there. Minimum Support Price (MSP) for Rabi season crops is going to be announced in India, on which the producers-exporters of Australia are focusing.
