According to the Agriculture Department, mustard sowing is almost complete, with about 95 per cent of the sowing work having been completed so far. The normal area under mustard is 7.917 million hectares, while sowing as of December 26, 2025 has reached 8.780 million hectares.

During the same period last year, mustard sowing stood at 8.657 million hectares, and the total sowing area for the entire season was also recorded at 8.657 million hectares. Current figures indicate that mustard acreage in the ongoing rabi season is slightly higher than last year.

The Agriculture Department noted that weather conditions are currently favourable, and the mustard crop is reported to be in good condition. Going forward, production estimates will largely depend on weather conditions and crop development.
