News Capsule: Canada: Global Pulse Markets Remain Subdued Amid Limited Demand
★ International pulse markets showed little change this week, with prices for chickpeas, peas, and lentils largely steady. While buyers remain present, the absence of sizeable deals continues to slow overall market momentum.

Kabuli Chickpeas
★ Demand for #2 Kabuli chickpeas persists, but bids have remained unchanged for several weeks. Standard quality (minimum 20% 9mm, maximum 10% 7mm) is trading at $0.26–0.27 per pound FOB farm. Sample grade is moving at around $0.17 per pound, while off-quality product is trading in limited quantities at $0.09–0.10 per pound.
~~~~~~
Peas
★ Yellow peas are steady at $7.50–8.00 per bushel FOB. Green peas (maximum 3% bleach) have eased slightly to $9.50–10.00 per bushel FOB. Maple peas are trading between $11.00–13.00 per bushel, depending on variety, with new crop maple peas attracting interest at $11.00–12.00 per bushel.
★ Weaker Indian exports and heavy Canadian and U.S. supplies continue to weigh on the market.
~~~~~~~
Lentils
★ Red lentils remain stable at $0.25 per pound FOB. Large green lentils are trading at $0.24–0.26 per pound FOB farm, while small green lentils are quoted at $0.18–0.20 per pound. However, buyer interest for sizeable volumes remains limited.
★ As the 2025–26 marketing year enters its final phase, the challenge of moving a larger-than-average crop is becoming more evident. With shipments typically slowing into the summer months, farmers may face increasing pressure to clear bins ahead of the next crop year. No significant price changes are expected in the near term.
