News Capsule: China Buys U.S. Soybeans After a Long Gap
★ China has signed purchase deals for 10 cargoes of U.S. soybeans for March and May shipments.
★ According to the USDA, China yesterday booked 336,000 tonnes of U.S. soybeans. So far in the current season, 27.7 million tonnes of soybeans have been exported from the U.S., which is 31% higher than last year and 51% of the USDA’s target.
★ From 1 July to 4 January, the European Union imported 6.5 million tonnes of soybeans, which is 0.88 million tonnes lower than the same period last year.
