News Capsule: India’s spice exports increased: Spices Board of India
★ During April to October, India’s total spice exports showed an overall increase.
★ Exports rose 14% to 1.07 million tonnes, compared with 0.94 million tonnes in the same period last year.
★ Cumin exports declined 13% to 0.126 million tonnes, fennel exports dropped sharply by 65% to 20,850 tonnes, while ginger exports recorded a strong 130% surge to 81,183 tonnes and small cardamom exports increased 66% to 6,827 tonnes.
★ Turmeric exports stood at 0.110 million tonnes, compared with 0.108 million tonnes last year. Fenugreek exports improved by about 2,000 tonnes year-on-year to reach 28,696 tonnes.
