News Capsule: Rice sales under OMSS (D) pick up in Maharashtra; FCI aims to boost market supply
★ This initiative began in the first week of August 2025 and is now progressing through regular e-auctions and bulk movement channels.
★ Food Corporation of India (FCI) has offered around 10,000 metric tonnes of rice in the e-auctions scheduled for April 29 and 30, 2026. Traders, bulk consumers, and manufacturers are eligible to participate. The minimum bid quantity is 1 metric tonne, while the maximum limit is set at 7,000 metric tonnes per bidder.
★ Interested buyers can register on FCI’s authorized e-auction portal, where the empanelment process is completed within 72 hours.
★ In addition, FCI has also made large quantities of rice available under the dedicated movement (bulk sale) category. A total of 50,000 metric tonnes of rice and 40,000 metric tonnes of non-FRK Custom Milled Rice (CMR) with 10% broken rice have been offered. This includes supplies of 10,000 MT from Punjab and 30,000 MT from Andhra Pradesh. The minimum bid quantity in this category is fixed at 2,650 metric tonnes.
★ According to FCI, successful bidders must inform the concerned Regional General Manager about their designated railhead destination to ensure timely movement and delivery.
