News Capsule: Strong Wheat Sowing Progress
★ Rabi sowing is advancing rapidly across the country. By November 21, sowing had reached 30.63 million hectares, about 12% higher than last year’s 27.28 million hectares.
★ Wheat leads the surge with 12.837 million hectares covered so far, nearly 19–20% higher than last year’s 10.779 million hectares.
★ Favourable weather, higher rainfall, and reservoir levels at nearly 90% capacity have boosted planting activities.
★ Madhya Pradesh is considering announcing a bonus of ₹15 per quintal for wheat procurement in the next season.
★ Overall, around 50% of the normal rabi sowing area is expected to be completed this week.
★ IGrain India believes the country may see record wheat acreage and production this year.
★ Given the current situation, the chances of any sharp price rise appear limited for now.
